The Illinois Department on Aging administers the Circuit Breaker Program which provides a yearly grant for relief from property or mobile home taxes and from rent or nursing home charges for qualifying seniors and persons with disabilities over 16 years of age. Illinois Cares Rx is an optional benefit that covers prescription drugs used in the treatment of 11 disease. Illinois Cares Rx Basic covers Alzheimer's, arthritis, cancer, diabetes (including insulin, syringes and needles), glaucoma, heart disease and its related illnesses, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis and Parkinson's. Illinois Cares Rx Plus covers almost all prescription drugs. The information submitted on your application determines your prescription drug benefits. An additional optional benefit is The people with Disabilities Ride Free transit card. If you are currently enrolled in Circuit Breaker and between the ages of 16 and 64 you are eligible for free rides on all regularly scheduled buses ad trains that run on fixed-routes.
