Program/Service Notes:

The American Lung Association in Illinois is the leading organization working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through Education, Advocacy and Research. With the generous support of the public, we are "Fighting for Air." When you join the American Lung Association in the fight for healthy lungs and healthy air, you help save lives today and keep America healthy tomorrow. Whether it's searching for cures, keeping kids off tobacco or fighting for laws tat protect the air we all breathe, the work of the American Lung Association helps to save lives every day. Affecting more than 6 million children, asthma is the leading serious chronic illness among American kids. In addition to providing vital research support, the American Lung Association facilitates asthmacare partnerships involving school nurses ad educational staff as well as physicians, families and Lung Association volunteers. Our Asthma Clinical Research Center (ACRD) conduct large clinical trials that provide immediate and useful information for people who have asthma. Through our educational programs like Asthma Adventure Camp, we give children the tools they need to manage their asthma so that they can stay healthy in school and be ready to learn. To help adult smokers quit, the American Lung Association offers Freedom From Smoking. The program teaches the skills and techniques that have been proven to help smokers quit. Freedom From Smoking is available as a group clinic, an online program and a self-help book. You can also speak to a cessation counselor at the Lung HelpLine or Illinois Tobacco Quitline (866-QYIT-YES).
